We’re thrilled to unveil the Black Fuzz Phrase LTD, builtaround a rare stash of NOS OC44 Philips black glasstransistors we recently unearthed. Entirely hand-wiredwith turret-based point-to-point construction andwrapped in luxurious suede, this fuzz is a loving tributeto the golden era of germanium tone—picking up rightwhere our sold-out CV7003 Fuzz Phrase LTD left off.

Why NOS OC44 Philips Black Glass?

At the heart of every great germanium fuzz lie itstransistors—and few are as legendary as the OC44.Manufactured in the late 1960s at Philips’ Frenchfacilities, these black glass versions are consideredamong the finest ever made. This batch, dated April18, 1969, comes from the twilight era of germaniumtransistor production, shortly before Philips and thewider industry shifted to silicon-based designs.

What makes these transistors so revered?
